PUBLIC HALL REFURBISHMENT PROJECT – September Update
Dear Gosforth Public Hall User,
Members of the Public Hall Management Committee met with representatives of our builders, Roland Hill, on Friday September 11th.
Refurbishment of the 1628 Part of the building is near Completion
Called Phase 1 works, the building is due for handover last week of September.
Internal work is nearing completion with minor outstanding work including some final electric heater installation, some lights, some floor coverings and addressing any snagging. The Library floor has been completed and now has carpet tiles, the new fire alarm system has been installed, and kitchen units are being installed in the new meeting room to allow refreshments to be made (sink & cupboards). The GADS store is complete and the Supper room ready for floor covering. Once handed over to users there will be further work to install furniture and, for the library, shelving and the return of books.
External work
Painting of the exterior has been delayed by the wet weather. Painting should be completed by the end of September.
Rear Extension
Called Phase 2, the rear extension work has started with ground works, in particular the digging of a channel to undertake drainage works. This will be followed by foundation work for the extension. A sketch plan shows the location of the new rear entrance, storeroom and kitchen. Phase 2 also includes refurbishment of the main hall and under hall boiler room. Phase 2 is due to complete summer 2027.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns please raise them with Jackie or Karen, or via your Hall User Group contact.
Many thanks
